Joshua & Hellen Okoth and Elizabeth
Joshua is the Grounds Manager for Haven of Hope and the Ministry Assistant for His Cherished Ones. He is a man who truly loves the Lord, has a passion to reach others for Christ, and desires to do whatever is needed of him in order to serve God to the best of his abilities and to fulfill the calling on his life. Joshua oversees the daily operations of HOH and is on hand to offer guidance and leadership to the staff. He assists in our outside ministries, such as food distribution, community outreach, etc., and loves to take every opportunity he can to share the love of Christ with others. He is a great help and tremendous asset to the ministry of HCO.
Hellen is the cook for the home and will eventually oversee the operations of the kitchen. This is a new skill for her, but she has a desire to learn and is showing great progress in her abilities. Hellen had never been to the city before coming to work with us. She is very gifted in working in the shamba (garden) and enjoys helping Joshua there whenever she has spare moments. She also assists in the home with the babies as needed.
Elizabeth is "Daughter" to Joshua and Hellen. (Literally, that is the name that everyone calls her.) Elizabeth is actually Joshua's niece that he has been raising since she was a toddler. She is beautiful girl with a lovely smile and gentle heart. She loves to help with the babies after school.

Lynette - Julie - Irene
Baby Caretakers / House Helpers
Lynette is the Sr Caretaker and works as full-time baby caretaker. She is mother to beautiful 1 1/2 year old Tracy and is a great mother to all the babies in the home. She has an inner determination and is eager to grow in her ability and responsibility at HOH. In her quiet and meek demeanor, she loves to joke and laugh. She truly loves the babies and desires to see them grow and develop. She has a great ability to make the ever-so-serious Jeremiah bust out in laughter and squeals!
Julie and Irene alternate in taking care of the babies and cleaning the house. They both do a great job in each area. They both enjoy playing with the babies and are so loving towards them. Julie adores the tiny babies and loves to sit, hold and feed them. Irene has taken a special interest in Elizabeth and her home therapy program. I am so thankful for both of them!

Emmanuel & Simon
Security
Emmanuel is a trained Maasai warrior who has spent seven years in the forest warring off lions, buffalo, rhino and elephants, so we feel quite secure in his ability to protect us. He is of the Maasai tribe which is highly respected in the Kenyan community. He is head of security on the compound. Best of all, Emmanuel truly loves the Lord! He is honestly interested in the welfare and eternal life of others. From the day he arrived on the compound, he was asking the other staff if they know Jesus. Not just if they were Christians, but if they really know Jesus. Emmanuel has a heart for people and wants to do as much as possible to help his own family and community. He recently asked if he could be the one to share the message of Christ through our food distribution rather than just translating. He and Simon are being discipled weekly by Joshua.
Simon is also a trained Maasai warrior, yet one of the most compassionate people you have ever met. As with Emmanuel, we have the utmost confidence in his ability to secure our safety. He is keenly aware of his surroundings and takes that to heart each night as he patrols the compound. His gentle smile is always an encouragement, and his love for and interest in the babies is an encouragement to all who see him interact with them.
