Haven on the Hill

His Cherished Ones is a partner ministry of Haven on the Hill. Trena is the Director of Haven on the Hill, overseeing the daily operations and general care of the children in the home. Haven on the Hill is a children's home located in the hills of Central Kenya. Nestled in the beautiful village of Gacharage, it is currently home to five little boys. We have been entrusted by the Lord to raise these children in the truths of God, nurturing their souls and helping them to overcome the hardships and suffering they have experienced in their short lives. Haven on the Hill is designed to give a home to orphaned or abandoned children. Rather than living in an institution or on the streets, these children will live in cottage-like homes in small family settings. We want them to experience the value of a "family" while still being part of a larger community. Although Haven will be "home" to some children, it is our desire that it will also serve as a beacon in the community. We have recently drilled a borehole (deep well) that will serve 5,000 people. Future plans include building a chapel where the community will be invited to join in worship, constructing a playground that will welcome children from the village, and building a large kitchen that can be used to feed many local families on special occasions. By serving and connecting with the local villagers, we have the opportunity to build relationships with them and introduce them to the hope of a future and eternal life in Christ. We truly desire to be the light of Christ in the community of Gacharage, Kenya.

John February 18, 2001 - April 3, 2008 ***Update - John, our oldest boy at Haven, died suddenly on April 3, 2009, due to meningitis. As we greatly miss John, we know that there is still a story of Life to be told through John's death. He was a precious little boys who knew the love of God and brought joy to the home and the other boys there.  Please pray for the younger boys and the staff as they adjust to life without their oldest brother.***
